Justinus Darmojuwono (November 2, 1914—February 3, 1994) was an Indonesian Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Archbishop of Semarang from 1963 to 1981, and was elevated to the cardinalate in 1967, becoming the first Indonesian to be a cardinal.
Justinus Darmojuwono was born in Godean, and made his conversion to Catholicism in 1932. He studied at the Major Seminary of Jogiakarta and at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Albert Soegijapranata, SJ, on May 25, 1947, and then taught at the Minor Seminary of Semarang until 1948. Darmojuwono did pastoral work in Semarang from 1948 to 1954, and furthered his studies from 1954 to 1956, whence he resumed his pastoral ministry. He was also vicar general (1962-1963) and vicar capitular (1963) of Semarang.
On December 10, 1963, Darmojuwono was appointed Archbishop of Semarang by Pope John XXIII. He received his episcopal consecration on April 6, 1964 from Archbishop Ottavio De Liva, with Archbishop Adrianus Djajasepoetra, SJ and Bishop Paul Sani Kleden, SVD, serving as co-consecrators. He was later named Ordinary of the Military Ordinariate of Indonesia on the following July 8, and attended the of the Second Vatican Council from 1962 to 1965.
Pope Paul VI created him Cardinal Priest of Ss. Nome di Gesù e Maria in Via Lata in the consistory of June 26, 1967. Darmojuwono, the first cardinal from Indonesia, was one of the cardinal electors who participated in the conclaves of August and October 1978, which selected Popes John Paul I and John Paul II respectively. He resigned as his post as Archbishop on July 3, 1981, and his post in the military ordinariate on December 31, 1983.
Cardinal Darmojuwono died in Semarang, at age 79. He is buried in Muntilan, Central Java.
